Demand for engineers in Germany

The demand for engineers in Germany has traditionally been high and continues to be so. Germany is known for its strong engineering and manufacturing sectors, which contribute significantly to its economy. Engineering fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive engineering, civil engineering, and software engineering are particularly sought after.
Additionally, the ongoing transition to sustainable energy and the digital transformation across industries also increase the demand.
According to a study conducted by the German Association of Engineers (VDI) in 2019, it was estimated that Germany would need around 100,000 additional engineers per year until 2030 to meet the demand. This estimation took into account factors like retirements, technological advancements, and industry growth.
